Overlooking picturesque hills, Meadowcroft Country Guesthouse is a family-run guest house in the tranquil Village of Ings, 2 miles from Windermere. There is free Wi-Fi in the bedrooms.

Rooms at Meadowcroft are traditionally furnished, and benefit from a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. There is storage space in bedside chests of drawers and a wardrobe in every room. This was one of our favorite stops on our recent trip. We all agreed, the beds were comfortable, the showers were hot, and the rest of the amenities were great. Elliott was a great host - giving us some advice about our next stop. Breakfast was delicious. With a pub within walking distance we couldn't ask for a better location.

The Westbourne is a beautiful guest house set in the peaceful area below Biskey Howe in the Lake District. Bedrooms feature walk-in-shower rooms, luxurious toiletries and large fluffy towels.

The Westbourne serves traditional English breakfast. Guests can also relax in the conservatory or comfortable lounge with real log fire. Comfortable, clean, great location! Wonderful breakfast and host!

Jerichos is a contemporary family-run guest house with stylish decor situated on a quiet side street in the heart of Windermere village. There is free Wi-Fi and free ample private parking.

Suitable for adults only, each room at Jerichos come with flat-screen TVs, en suite bathrooms and iPod docks. Tea/coffee making facilities are also provided. Original Victorian period features adorn the property, which also offers a cosy lounge. Breakfast was superb, there were many options available to choose from and we got to try different meals in our 3 days there. Bread was served hot, coffee and tea was good, service was prompt and friendly. There are even different types of cereal to start off our meal.

The stylish and comfortable rooms at the 4-star Rum Doodle feature luxurious vintage furniture and original artwork. Benefits also include an en suite bathroom, designer toiletries, and a hospitality tray with fresh coffee milk, teas, and biscuits. Rooms were small, but very clean and comfortable. The staff and the breakfast were both excellent.

Craig Walk Suite is set in Bowness-on-Windermere, 38 km from Derwentwater, 43 km from Askham Hall, as well as 50 km from Trough of Bowland. The property is around 50 km from Muncaster Castle, 16 km from Kendal Castle and 44 km from Cat Bells. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and World of Beatrix Potter is 400 metres away.

The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford International Airport, 117 km from the guest house. This property is absolutely beautiful you can tell a lot of hard work and money has gone in to it

At the guest house, all units come with a wardrobe, a TV, a private bathroom, bed linen and towels. A fridge and kettle are also provided. The units in the guest house are equipped with a hair dryer and a CD player. Michael and Ann where the perfect hosts . Nothing was too much trouble and would meet your every need. Anne even had a birthday cake for my wife's birthday! Michael even let me try his favourite gin at breakfast! A lovely quiet calm to the house as a whole with a large bright dining room used for breakfast with wonderful view.

Set in Dearham, 26 km from Buttermere, The Old Mill Inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Offering a bar, the property is located within 30 km of Derwentwater. This pet-friendly inn also has free WiFi. We had the place to ourselves.

Set in Keswick and only 5.8 km from Derwentwater, Dalegarth Guesthouse Portinscale offers accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. This recently renovated guest house is located 14 km from Buttermere and 35 km from Askham Hall. Guests can make use of a garden. An absolute little gem of a place!! Well where to start.. when I say this is an absolute little gem I really mean it, and that is all down to Clare and Craig who run the place to absolute perfection! They really put everything into making sure that their guests are well looked after and that nothing is too much trouble. Firstly, ahead of arrival, you get a link to a web page (the guidebook) with all the information on that you could possibly need during your stay; from check in and out procedures, to local information on eating out, car parking, walking, shopping, activities, to everything and anything else in-between! I loved this! The area is beautiful, with gorgeous views from the house and the village is so peaceful. Just far enough away from Keswick but close enough to get to easily and enjoy the town. We really love Keswick anyway, and Derwentwater too, so the location is just perfect for us! On arrival we were met by Craig who directed us to our parking spot and offered us help with our bags if it was needed. We then headed around to the house and met Clare, whom showed us around. There's a lovely lounge area to relax in, and a bar where you can get a drink on an evening if you wish to. There is tea and coffee in each room with UHT milks, but what I loved was that fresh milk is available as needed too - you just take a little jug to your room from the milk in the fridge! There's also other drinks like hot chocolate, fruit teas, decaf drinks here to help yourself to. The room was lovely and really clean, with comfortable beds too. Smart TV in the room and free WIFI access were a bonus, although we didn't waste much time with technology! If you want any advice or tips on where to go or what to do, don't hesitate to ask Craig - he's full of information and more than happy to help! Clare's cooking skills are amazing too! Her flapjack is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts - set us up well for our days out!
