The location was outstanding. An easy walk from the train station and then an easy walk to the Altstadt. Breakfast was very good. Staff was friendly, and the modern hotel provided a pleasant contrast to the medieval city. I actually recommended the hotel to some Frankfurt residents I met in Munich later in my trip.

Regensburg’s cobbled streets, colorful façades and step gables constitute Germany’s best-preserved medieval center. A 12th-century stone bridge crosses the Danube River between the UNESCO World Heritage-listed old town and islands forming the Stadtamhof district.
Regensburg was an important trading center and its wealthy merchants built tall towers, like the Goldener Turm, to outdo each other. The dual spires of its Gothic cathedral tower over red roofs sheltering sidewalk cafes, traditional bierkellers and modern bars.
Niedermünster abbey also has square towers, while the Alte Kapelle’s most impressive feature is intricate gold interior detailing. Nearby Neupfarrplatz houses the annual Christmas markets, while the old town hall is on Kohlenmarkt. Just down the street, a large David and Goliath mural adorns a house.
A plaque outside a more modest house marks Oskar Schindler’s former home. Much grander is Schloss Thurn und Taxis, an 8th-century monastery converted to a noble residence. At the eastern end of a park encircling the historic center, there's a villa built for King Maximilian II of Bavaria. It overlooks riverboats cruising past a more outlandish royal creation, Donaustauf’s Walhalla monument, resembling a Greek temple.
Booking.com has a great range of Regensburg accommodations including 4-star hotels with spas, cheap apartments and guesthouses near the train station.
We loved Regensburg. It is a beautiful, quite city with friendly people, great food, and reasonable amount of traffic. Our visit was very plesant. Nothing went wrong. Dining in the restaurant and shopping in the supermarket are both quite cheap.

I travelled to Regensburg every month for 15 years working and never tired of the city. We still visit every December to meet old friends and enjoy the Christmas ambience.
Plenty of traditional Bavarian restaurants - my favourites being Hacker Pschorr and Dicker Mann - but lots of modern places as well
A beautiful old city centre - exactly how you would envisage a traditional Bavarian city. Not to be missed

Regensburg is a wonderful medieval town.
Regensburg is a wonderful medieval town. The entire old town is easily walkable and there are so many ancient homes/buildings to see. Get a local guide so you don’t walk right past something incredible without realizing.

Beautiful old town, compact, easy to walk everywhere.
Beautiful old town, compact, easy to walk everywhere. Nice restaurants and cafes with great views. There are almost no cars in the old town and it makes it a good experience. The city has a very interesting history. Little shops with all kinds of things. Well worth a nice weekend.
Had very good dinner at Al Camino pizzeria+Peppers mexican- those two places make one restaurant on Haidplatz - and they have tasty tank beer!
We took a 45 min tour via the electric train (leaving every hour from the Domplatz at the cathedtral. The audio guide (in 6 languages) was informativre and fun.
We were planning on Staying on Deceber 1 2023 and we were hit by the snow storm and didn't make it to Regensburg until after our stay although our friends who were meeting us and staying in a room as well thoroughly enjoyed their stay. We were very dissappointed and as we walked through the old town on the following day we saw the hotel and wished we would have had the chance to stay with our friends. Hopefully next year when we are in Regensburg we will have the opportunity to stay at the Alstead!
The hotel is modern. The room is clean and quiet. There are roller shutters. The hotel can be reached on foot from the station (although it’s a bit far) or one stop by bus. To explore the Old Town, it is better to take a bus and go to the famous bridge. Breakfast is sufficient, varied and tasty, but not enough hot dishes. The third place is comfortable, good mattress. WiFi works well... the password is on the TV-screen. There are enough channels on TV.
Location is short walking distance to old town. Restaurants are nearby. The host is very fast in response, friendly and kind to let us stay on the 2nd floor as our luggage is too heavy to carry up to the 4th floor room originally assigned. I highly recommend staying in this accommodation if you ever visit Regensburg, value for money!
Good(ish) location, (just about) within walking distance of both the train station and the old town. Room was average sized but quite comfy. It's basically a few-frills budget hotel with reasonably nice rooms and a bar of sorts. We got a great deal on booking so I'm happy given the price we paid.
Breakfast was good, a nice variety and plentiful. The rooms were spacious and clean. Wifi worked perfectly, beds were comfortable. This was the perfect location for our visit to Old Town in Regensburg. Just a short easy 15 minute walk. Parking was free which was a bonus! A wonderful value!
Hard to think of a better-located hotel relative to the attractions and altstadt. The breakfast was very good and staged in a spacious and beautiful room. The staff was helpful with dinner recommendations. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Excellent location in a quiet green area. Although we had a car, we used the local bus no. 2 (the bus stop is 150 meters from the hotel) to the old Town (20 minutes ride).
Very clean big rooms! Comfortable beds (not the pillows - very flat).
Great location, historic building (over 400 years old, with frescos in our room) very good staff. The old town area is a “happening place” filled with university students eating and drinking and partying in and on the Danube.
Easy 15min walk from the train station and 15min walk into old town. It is in a very quiet area with no road noise or train noise at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. The room was comfortable.
THE LOCATION OF THE HOTEL WAS SMACK IN THE CENTER OF THE OLD TOWN,THE STAFF ARE TOP AND THE SMALL HEATED OUTSIDE AREA WAS AMAZING FOR SMOKERS AND ALWAYS PACKED.
THE RESTAURENT WAS ALSO VERY GOOD.
Nice location near the railway station. Comfortable beds. Bathroom is clean. Room size is pretty good. Hotel interior is pretty nice. Walking distance from old town.
Nice hotel near old town city center. The room with AC - very important during heat wave in the summer. Veried breakfast and near location of the parking.
